By Taxi The taxi may be the most commonly used mode of transport used to travel within a city. Tourist taxis: There are a many chauffeur-driven tourist cars. These un-metered tourist cars operate at a somewhat higher rate than the regular taxis, and are approved by India Tourism.
By Rail With 63,000 km of rail routes and 6,800 stations, the railway network in India is the third biggest in the world after Russia and China, and the biggest in the world in terms of passenger kilometres. The trains in India go almost everywhere, and it's generally safe to assume that you can travel between any two Indian cities or major towns by train.
